Destination: Angel Island
Feb 15 1997

Angel Island is a great place to spend the weekend. It is a large island in the San Francisco bay and is only accessible by boat. Hiking on the island is breath taking and the view of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge are one of a kind.

The rangers that run the park are friendly and helpful. There are historic sites that date back to the civil war and are all open to the public. Angel Island is a great place for raft ups with other boaters.

We started the 1997 sailing season with a trip to Angel Island on Presidents Day Weekend (Feb 15-16)
Here is what it looked liked. What new docks and a new ramp?

For the middle of February there were a lot of boats in the cove.

The raft-up was made up of most of the usual suspects. Larry and Lisa - Amanda.

Ed and Judy - Blue Max

And of course Gary, Karen and Luke - Bushwacker

I was a beautiful weekend with sun, but not much wind. Thank you for NO rain.

4-13-97 Yes we were here again, and this time we took the digital camera along for the island tour.

The view from the top of Angel Island is just can't be captured with the digital camera, but here goes.

The first stop is the immigration station.
The museum depicts the Chinese immigration to the US and what they had to go through to enter this country.

The second stop was over to the East Garrison cannon batteries.
These were used to protect the San Francisco Bay from the enemy that never came.

The picnic area is a great place for a BBB, if you don't have a boat.
My favorite time of the day is when the last ferry leaves.

The last stop is Camp Reynolds. This was the staging area for all the troops that went to the Pacific.
