SF Bay Cruize: 5-25-96 (labor day)

5/25/96 Sat (jeff)

Bought 20" TV, Sony VCR. Made 2 trips to Fremont, 2 trips to Emryville, 1 trip to Hayward. After lots of cutting, sawing, drilling and sweat (thats me!),

we got the TV installed. Check it out!! Everyone wanted to know why we didnt hook up the TV to the stereo. Because the TV DOESNT HAVE LOW LEVEL OUTS, OF COURSE!! Ok, I'll hook it up. Just give me a soldering iron, screw driver and a couple of resistors.

5/26/96 Sun (jeff)

Went to Radio Shack and bought all the stuff we needed to Install the Stereo and hook it up to the stereo. We didnt realize that Jeff was a bit rusty on the electronics side and he ended up blowing up the TV before we could test it. Went to more stores to replace the TV. Could only find it at Fry's. What kind of people do they hire at Fry's? See the Piracy on the High Seas section for more. Brought the new TV back and hooked it up. Jeff says "let me put these resistors on the connections just for safety" just before he connects the wires. Wait there's SMOKE IN THE CABIN!! Where's the fire exting? Holy shit, BATMAN! Well, we only blew up the 9 band graphic eq/amp this time. Its back to the Good Guys to find another one. The adventure continues. This is what happened to Jeff after pulling that stunt!!

5/27 Mon

A trip to the Good Guys and I give Gary 2 options:

  1. I buy a new EQ for $39
  2. I buy a new stereo surround sound system with remote CD, Tape, 130w amp.

Gary *finally* chose option number 2.  Boy was he glad I was a good salesman. The installation was Great after I convinced him he should get a new pair of Bose 151 speakers instead of trying to make those humongous Denon speakers work. Now we have:

THE ULTIMATE, SUPER DUPER, SURROUND-SOUND STEREO SYSTEM  Check it out!

5/28/96 Tue

We finally leave the dock. I thought we would never get out of Alameda. We arrived at South Beach Harbor and then went to the Hyde St Pier where we checked out the Marine Museum (very cool) played every video game in sight, ate everything in site. Bought tickets to Alcatraz.

5/29/96 Wed

Alcatraz today!!

What a great Tour. Gary and Jeff Look right at home in these shots.

5/30/96 Thursday

Waited for Lori to arrive via Bart. Left the dock for Sausalito.   On the way to Sausalito, the US Coast Guard was doing drills on the bay. Look how close we got to this helicoptor.. Amazing.

Lori had a Hockey attack and we had to go to Margaritaville for drinks and find out what the score was. Florda Panthers (go rats!!) were victorious! Shitfaced, we staggered to the dink, drained it again, and went back to home base to work more on the web site.

6/1/96 Friday - Sausalito (jeff)

Woke up, did laundry, and actually found the spot where all of the Internet Service Provider hubs converge. This location was wired with level 5 grade wire and you could hear the hum of the bits flying by. No wonder Internet response time is so bad!!

Went to sales dock to check out new boats. Waited for the god damned sales agent for over an hour and he never showed up. Had a beer, went back to the boat. Went to dinner at a GREAT Italian Restraunt - Angelito's. The maitre d' was a bitch after we asked to move to a smoke free table but the meal was great. Gary bet me all or nothing on dinner. I took his number - odd. He lost. As we left the restraunt, we saw a boat full of people climbing into a dingy. Trying to seize the moment and feeling sorry for himself, Gary be me $10 that one of the 5 chinese people would get wet. It was a fair bet and I should have lost it but this nite wasnt meant for butthead and he lost that one too. What a GREAT sunset.

6/2/96 Sat - Angel Island (jeff)

Got woken up by the harbor master at Sausalito at 8:00 in the morning. Waaaay to early. We could have just left the dock but Gary insisted on paying the guy $30 per nite for 2 nites. Another good example of Piracy on the high seas. After draining the ding AGAIN:

We helped a crew on a catamaran get going to their race by towing them over a mile around the point of Sausalito. After getting back, we sailed over to Angel Island. After draining the dink AGAIN (why is he leaning on the dink?), we took the dink to shore and walked around the ENTIRE island which took a good 2 1/2 hours. Looks like the politicians are getting their way because they are chopping down all of the Euclyptis and Montery pine trees on the entire island. The excuse? They say its because they weren't naitive plants to the island. Bullshit. It looks like they are going to build a restraunt at the half way point around the island. Now there is 180 degree view at that point. Breathtaking.

Dinner was great! Ravoli and Tortelinni with a tomato-sausage sauce, garlic spread and a good Kendall Jackson cab. Now its time to settle into some James Bond, Dr. No (check out the theme song!) on the new Surround Sound System. Wake me up when its over.
