Rectangular Port Windows  8-11-01   Rectangular Port Windows

Port Windows and Marine Hardware Cast and polished in solid bronze.

For years I have hated the old ports on the Bushwacker.
They just didn't match the rest of the fine vessel. It made it look out dated.

So after 3 months of waiting the new ones finally arrived from New Found Metals.

New Found Metals -Marine Hardware since 1975

And here is how we spent our weekend. Out with the old in with the new.

Here is a shot of one of the old ones to help you visualize the project

Do I really want to do this? HELL YES!

Step 1: Remove old windows
Tools needed: 2lb sledgehammer, 16oz hammer,
regular hammer, carpet knife, screw driver

Remember to remove all the old silicon and varnish around the old port
Karen did a great job on the prep work. It made the job an A+ project

About this time Barry saw me using the hammer on the old windows and told Ann
"I had better get over there, he has the hammer out"

But is was too late, they were all out and on the dock.

Now this is where the fun started

Step 2: Cut and fit the new ports (NO SEALANT)
Tools needed: Barry Graf, hole saw, drill and dremal tool

I love power tools

Wait, I love lunch more.... Thanks Ann!
I know she was trying to make us take a break

Step 3: Glue them in
Tools needed: 3M 4200 sealant, Lots of rubber gloves

Step 5: Clean up the mess we just made
Tools needed: 3M adhesive remover, more rubber glovers, my wife

Now all she needs is a wash

Side view of the new ports

Looking good....

Inside pictures are hard during the day
More inside ones next weekend when the varnish is done

All in all, I couldn't have done it without the help of Barry and Karen
THANKS for your efforts!
