Jeff has been missing in action for a few months, but we expect that during racing season
This
was probably one of his best years yet. Every time I watch him race he just gets
better and better.
Barry and I heard him say racing season ended last week,
so we drop by to see him,
We can do that, even without calling, because we are his buds!
And
find him we do. He told us he was tired of finishing in 3rd and above and decided
it was time to even the playing field,
At first I thought he was just going upgrade to a corvette, but his plan was
more diabolical than that.
He said it was all about weight and horsepower,
I think he has been living in the hills too long
To my
amazement he had stripped everything off the car. The engine and
transmission
would have even been out if Barry and I hadn't surprised him
Even
the fuel cell was missing
And rather than use slim fast he thought he would start by taking 150lbs off the car.
Jeff even manages to get Barry in the act as he weighs the stuff he throws away
Even the stereo system was missing, I guess no more tunes
I guess he has a few tires laying around
My biggest fear is that this could end up as "a science project gone bad"
But
Jeff quickly assured me that he could have this all back together and ready for
the 2002 racing season
New paint, new body and a few new tricks. "Hell I built it once and think I
can do it again"
I think that was also a quote from Dr, Frankenstein
Good Luck Jeff, we will all follow your progress over the next few months
Update: 12-29-01
He wouldn't answer
the phone and we knew is was in the garage working on the car,
so Bill and I stop by to see how the car is coming along.
When Jeff said he was going to take it down to bare metal I thought it was a figure of speech
I do love the sun roof
Jeff tells me he has taken off over 500lbs and is still going
All the undercoating is being removed. Next step primer and paint.
